I keep seeing advertisements saying Cox is doubling speeds, several times I have heard it was in September, Is there any way of knowing when it will happen in my area? I am in Niceville, FL (serviced by the Gulf Coast region of Cox Cable (either Fort Walton Beach, FL or Pensacola, FL) I currently have the premier (50 Mbps) plan. If I understand correctly this plan will double to 100 Mbps sometime this month.

Well that is certainly something to look forward too...now I need to fix my current speed problems and we will go from there.

No reason to double the speeds because they cannot fulfill the 50 mbps either. In Phoenix we got the speed doubled a month ago and last night I tested at 11 mbps download... I am paying for 50!!! They do not have the infrastructure to get us the speed we pay for, why promise double speeds? By the way, just tested my speed on cox's website and got 12 mbps download...

COX tested the latency and signal and they informed me that all is good on their end. What or how can I test my DOCSIS 3.0 modem??

Also in Phoenx - last few weeks have been pretty high latency with speedtest.net results of about 35 Mbps - I haven't seen any doubling yet.

There are signs of activity in CA/AZ/NV that suggest Cox is making some routing changing and updating their CMTS. I would guess to see a few more sites upgrade within the week.

Pensacola, FL using SB6121 and D-Link DIR-655 (both owned not leased). Premier Internet (currently 50/10 rated). ISP firmware is junky at best.
Wifi has major limitations on 2.4ghz.
Get a dual band router and all 802.11n/ac rated wifi NICs, jump on the 5ghz channel and you won't see that kind of speed anymore. Put all your legacy low end stuff back on the 2.4ghz band and only use it in 802.11b/g mode so you don't try to put your high end stuff on the lower band and get the 11mbps kind of result again.

Direct connect to your modem with ethernet cable.
Open a command prompt. (type enter after anything in caps)
Type IPCONFIG
Write down the default gateway listed on screen while directly plugged into your modem.
Type the default gateway into any browser while still connected.
Look for values too high or too low for your specific modem.
(NOT a Gateway combo device with modem and router, this would have to be in bridge mode to get the same effect. *public ip directed through ethernet to your computer*)
