Slow Speeds

When will you be a proactive company instead of a reactive one. Besides the obvious reason not to, the monopoly of my market...  Please stop dragging your feet on offering cutting edge speeds.  If Google fiber hits town I will have zero reservations about changing.  Hopefully you will get on this.....

We've already been working on Internet speed increases which have already launched in many markets.  More announcements will be coming in the future.

I assume you have to say those things.  But seriously, cox in no way competes with google.  The free service is nearly as fast as I pay you now.   Gigabit is only $10 more a month!  I'm asking for cox to start offering something comparative now, instead of waiting for an alternative to arrive.  I hate paying $60.00 for a data capped service that's being artificially kept slow. Yes I know, this is not happening soon.  Which is why I was asking for cox to be proactive.

Is your conclusion that Cox is not competing because they haven't release a 1Gbps product? If that is so, then no one is competing in the entire industry. Google Fiber is a proof of concept, so its like comparing apples and oranges. What kind of response were you expecting?

I assume this will be accompanied by a significant rate increase also?

My hope is to make cox aware of customer sentiment  and impending competition.  They can learn from Blockbuster or follow them.   I know this quote is not from Cox (it's from Time Warner), but I feel it's representative of this industry.   And as you seem to disagree with my request, you probably would switch as well if google where in your area. I don't know for a fact, but I bet Cox has the resources to start this transition.

“We’re in the business of delivering what consumers want, and to stay a little ahead of what we think they will want,” the executive said while speaking at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference on Wednesday, according to The Verge. “We just don’t see the need of delivering [Google Fiber speeds] to consumers.”
