Do you have any wireless-AC devices in your home? Or just wireless-N and lower?
If you want an AC router, I highly recommend the Netgear Nighthawk R7000. I get great range and coverage on both the 2.4 and 5ghz bands in my whole house. Wifi never cuts out for me and I've only had to powercycle it a few times in over a year.
If you only need a wireless-N router, then the Asus RT-N66U is a great choice.

+1 for the Nighthawk. Best radio/coverage of any router I've owned. Fast, stable and dd-wrt comparable if you want to go that way.
-1 for gateways / combo units. If you want the "best" stay away from gateways.
Asus also makes a good line of routers, the RT-AC line.
Please post the details Mike asked for, it will help make more specific recommendations ... Your plan, modem model & budget.
