Problems after power outage

We have one whole home DVR and two client boxes. The power was out in our area (Northern Virginia) for several hours overnight last night (Jan. 7-8). Once the power was restored early this morning, the display from two of our boxes, the DVR box itself and one client box, are not right (but the second client box is working fine). Instead of the channel banner, onscreen guide, settings, and DVR list filling the screen as normal, the displays are “pushed” towards the left side of the screen and made smaller (so we can actually still see the entire guide). TV itself seems to be unaffected; it’s only the displays.

I have tried every setting imaginable, including the Video Output setting (720p, etc.) to no avail. I did try unplugging both boxes, waiting, and plugging them back in to reboot, but that didn’t work. I called Cox for assistance, and they sent a signal to the boxes to reset them again. Still the same. As of now, a technician is scheduled to come tomorrow evening to take a look  It’s been suggested that the boxes may have to be replaced, which is disappointing, as there are recordings on the DVR that will be lost, and some are for our son.

The oddest thing about this is the one box that isn't having these problems: We had it on, watching TV, when the power went out, and the displays seem to be fine on that client box.

Has anyone ever had any trouble like this, and if so, was it possibly resolved without a tech’s help? Or did the box(es) need to be replaced?

It's been several hours since our problems started, so I decided to try unplugging the two affected boxes again. This time I started with the DVR box, since it seems to be the "main" box for the whole home DVR system in the house. Once the DVR box was back up and running, the guide and everything else seemed to be working just fine. So I did the same for the other box, and it seemed to fix that too.

I called Cox again to cancel the service call, and the person I spoke to told me that Cox had been having problems today with its entire DVR network, so that may have been what caused our problems, not the power outage. I suppose the technician may have ended up telling us about the problems when they arrived tomorrow, but now of course there's no need for them to come anyway.

SO...If anyone has had any similar problems with their whole home DVR today, I guess just give it a little time, and it should be fixed eventually. Thanks anyway to anyone that may have been considering replying to my post...

We did experience some guide issues yesterday which would have been made worse by the box rebooting but those should be all resolved by now.
