Poor Service

I struggled through the no voice mail issues with two very sick siblings and at times not being able to reach them.  Both have severe arthritus, cancer and diabetes.  Last week I found out one has Parkinson's.  Tonight I called my sister who lives 130 miles from me.  She was not doing well and asked I contact her daughter to take her to the emergency room.  I called her daughter to go and check on her.  When I tried to call my sister back I kept getting a message stating my sister's line was busy.   I doubt this was the case since I had just hung up from her and she had asked me to call her daughter because she did not feel well enough to call herself.  She has call waiting. When I called the phone would sometimes not even ring before I got the message.   After multiple tries I decided to call Cox and ask them if they could check her line.  I wanted to know if anyone was talking on the line.  To my dismay they had to transfer me to another worker and then wanted to charge me 70 cents.  I said okay.  I just wanted them to hurry.  I was trying to determine if I needed to call 911.  The operator then asked for my credit card.  This made no sense.  I have a Cox account and I did not have time to play.  I asked if they could just add it to my account and was told they could not.  I then returned to calling my sister with no response.  After awhile I called my niece.  She had arrived at my sister's house.  She told me my sister's house phone had not rang at all.  She also told me she was taking my sister to the emerrgency room.

Cox you failed again.

You have let you customer down.  I do hope my sister is okay and your lack of responsiveness did not cause harm.   Both my sister and I have Cox.  I have started to look for a company that provides what it says it is going to offer, service.  Shame on you Cox.

Chris, Where would I acccess the private message?  It was not in my email.  As for an update with my sister, she was admitted to the hospital.

Shame on you, all COX phone customer service reps, you too, Chris.  I completely agree with "Thinking of Leaving", I hope she did switch providers.  I'm stuck with a 2-yr contract and cannot cancel my phone service, I hardly use it because YOU COX can't fix Visual Voice Mail and been making excuses and more excuses that it's escalating to the next level and the next.  How many levels do you have before you stop deceiving us!  If you don't fix this "so-called escalating issue in another week", I'm going to call back and tell you to remove the rings and go back to having my neighbors listening to my messages on my answering machine then stop using Cox's voice mail since you have been rude and useless.  I'm deaf and you're breaking the ADA law!

Poor Service - This almost sounds like your phone might have accidentally been forwarded.  There are scams out there, I almost fell for one once, where people call, ask for someone, then when you tell they have the wrong number, they say wait, can you help me?  They will tell you some sob story, sometimes it might be something like, they're in jail and they're trying to reach their dying or ailing mother, can you please help them?  They may ask you to call a phone number to send a message, but tell you that you have to dial a *73 first (I think that's the Call FOrwarding #) then the other number they provide.  What this does is forwards  your home phone service to another number, thereby allowing people to call your house number, asking to charge calls or something to your account, and whoever answers says yes.  Then you get stuck with the phone bill.  Google Jail phone scams.

I don't know if this is happening to you or not, I hope not, but your story sounded pretty weird and worried me.  I hope  you're not being scammed, be careful.  Here's one website to check out.  Good luck.

Only issue we have with the phones is the caller ID never continues to work. We have to keep calling they reset the cable box will work for a few days then stops again. When cox service is not down like it is today again, seems to that has become the norm up & down the last few weeks, sad service lately, but not always, when things are working COX rocks, just seem to be having issues around the 90th ave union hills area in Peoria, az

It sounds like you're referring to the Anonymous Call Rejection feature.  If that is the case it will only block call from people that have explicitly blocked their Caller ID information from being displayed.  Calls from unknown or unavailable Caller ID are not blocked.
