Phone Service ported from AT&T

Hello,
How long does it take to get my land line phone service ported from AT&T to Cox?

Ordered Cox phone service on 1/5.
Recommended not to cancel AT&T service by Cox rep on 1/5.
Installed Cox phone with modem on 1/6 .
Cox confirmed on 1/6 that I have phone service with Cox (and therefore started to charge me from that day).

Now it is 1/13 and still no dial tone from Cox.
Still get a dial tone from AT&T.

Getting the run around on this issue as I type this. My partners have been told different things and time frames so I now have to get  involved. Going to get on this in the am and chew some ****.

They were told to have our ATT installed at new address so the numbers could then be transferred . What? The numbers just need to be ported to Cox. Now we are almost 2 weeks into Cox with no ATT numbers, and I have to come back from vacation to hear this BS.

Now ATT is coming to transfer/install new service at our new building in the morning because that's what they were told to do. Transfer fees and install fees from ATT will ensue I'm sure.

Our cox salesman/rep was no help to anyone, I'm told and stated that he"talked to hundreds of people a day" and just passed the buck to ATT with a smart **** attitude

I know this post will not help anything, but I need to vent during my jet-lag comedown

I'm having a little trouble keeping up with the chain of events but I'd like to help further.  Not sure if this applies in your case but phone numbers can only be ported from an active carrier.  Feel free to email us at cox.help@cox.com if you need further assistance with this.
