Outlook 2010 downloading double email

I'm working with Outlook 2010 on Windows 7 PC. My Outlook desktop alert shows that there are 2 of each email downloading (no of emails and file sizes confirm this), though only one email appears to be going to my Inbox. Where are the duplicates going and how do I fix this?

Hi, there are multiple reasons why you may receive duplicate emails. I'd start with extending the time interval that Outlook checks for mail (as recommended by Microsoft Support):
Click File > Options > Advanced.
Scroll down to the Send/Receive section and click Send/Receive.
Set the time interval for "Schedule an automatic send/receive every" XX Minutes to 15 minutes or more.
