My email works fairly well over the weekend, but is absolutely horrible Monday through Friday. This is the message I get every few minutes: There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for account "Cox - IMAP" or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server "imap.cox.net" on port 993 timed out.
The settings for my email are all correct. I'm using MacMail, and it has worked perfectly until about a month ago. Since then I have had nothing but trouble.

cybermac144,
There is currently an outage with the west coast servers that was identified yesterday. From what I've been told the outage affects the west coast webmail access and customers using IMAP. POP users are not impacted at this time.
Mail and Network administrators are currently working to troubleshoot the issue. Customers may use the URL http://webmail.east.cox.net in the meantime to access their mailbox while the impacted URL is down. IMAP customers may also use the webmail URL to access their mailbox.

Same issue...email worked fine for MacMail and now things sit in the outbox. Connection doctor says all accounts are green and connected. Outgoing SMTP is green "connection to server succeeded", but emails won't go out. Went through and reviewed all settings. Deleted accounts and readied - works for one email and then things sit in the outbox. SO FRUSTRATING! We already got rid of cable service due to ongoing issues. We only have internet and no other option in our area - grrrr!

You may have already read through this Forum but many of us have had these same issues since before Thanksgiving 2014. Whatever you do, don't let them convince you it's your fault, or waste your time looking at settings or emailing them with more information. It's not you.

Please email us at cox.help@cox.com with more details about which accounts you're having trouble with and we'll see if any of them are being impacted by server issues.

Same here. Can't send emails usin smtp.cox.net on port 465 with SSL. Security certificate issued to smtp.cox.net got expired on 6/15/2015. Called support yesterday morning and they created a ticket. That's it, still down. They never call back.

Called support this morning. They said there are issues with SMTP servers and will be resolved by 7:30 PM Arizona time. 9:00 PM still no resolution.
Security certificate issues to smpt.cox.net has expired on 06/15/2015 at 5:05:14 PM. This is very frustrating. Can't you guys just renew the certificate???
Guess, I am on my way to CenturyLink. After 8 years it's time to say goodbye to Cox.

6/15/2015 is next month so I suspect the error lies elsewhere. What date/time/timezone is your PC showing?

I have been experiencing problems for the last few weeks with outgoing Cox.net email from my Mac Email App - refusing to send important "outgoing" emails and placing them in my draft box. Sometimes, if I sign into webmail, the emails will be mysteriously be sent. Sometimes they will be sent whether or not I'm signed into webmail. However, most of the time they are not and, I am "denied" a way to send outgoing email. I never had these problems before - using the same Mac Mail account settings that I've had for years.
I have been through countless troubleshooting steps. Talked with a cox technical support (who, BTW, suggested that I needed an Apple software update. SMH)
There is nothing amiss with my Apple computer or Apple software updates. I have not exceeded my cox email allotted storage space. There is a problem with Cox email (evidenced by the many forum entries I'm reading here)!
I have important business that makes it crucial to have properly functioning email. Cox is my primary account and is also the amount in which I conduct my personal business for years.
Please fix it.
Thank you.

@Retired Rex
This problem is not unique to you as evidenced by the many related posts for many months.
I hate to be brutal about this but whining/pleading about your problem on this Forum isn't going to help you one bit. Your only hope is to become a 'squeaky wheel' to get the attention of the Cox Corporate staff so you can get attention to fix your particular account.

Hi Tiffany,
I have already spent a lot of time trying to resolve this issue. I have researched many online forums, called a Cox tech, as well had an online chat w/ another Cox representative. I had gone through all my settings with Cox tech support. I believe all avenues to remedy the issue on my end have been exhausted.
For a almost a week, I actually thought it may have been resolved, but sadly today (Monday June 8,2015) I see there is still the same intermittent problem with Cox outgoing mail servers.
People who conduct their business online depend on seamless integration between Cox email and their computer applications. They rely on their email accounts to work at ALL times without delayed or lost emails. My Mac computer is current with all updates and the highest version OS. However, the Cox email account connected to my Mac Mail remains buggy.
It seems apparent that Cox has not yet resolved its compatibility issues with Apple software. Compensation?
Regards,
Rex

I'm having the exact same issues with outgoing mail. I have to close and re-open mail in order to send, and even that doesn't always work. This has been happening every day for the past week or so. Like you, Retired Rex, I am certain that all my settings are current and I refuse to listen to any suggestion that "it's on my end" when the issue is sporadic and random and happening to a wide variety of people. I work at home and this cuts into my productivity and consequently my billable hours. I think compensation is appropriate. I'd rather have email that works all of the time, of course, but it ** to pay for something that is so unreliable.
