Modem

How can I find out if I purchased my modem or if I am renting my modem from cox? The reason is my internet is currently not working and I tried everything to get the internet back online. Yesterday I was on the phone with cox customer support for over an hour trying to send signals to my modem, but none of it worked. However, today I tried a friend's modem to see if by chance that was the problem and the modem is the problem. So, how much is it to replace a modem if I'm renting it? And do I have to continue renting? If I initially purchased the modem, do I have to purchase through cox again?

Does the cable modem show up on your monthly statement?  If not chances are you own it and are not renting it, I would still call Cox to verify if you are unsure.

You can purchase a modem from a Cox Store, they usually have very competitive prices. You want a DOCSIS 3 Modem either 4x4 or better yet 8x4 (data channels Down/Up)

Do you already have a Wireless Router?
I would advise against getting a Wireless Router Modem Combo from Cox.  It is best to keep the Router and Modem as separate devices.

One of the best modems out there is the Arris/Motorola SB6141 (8x4 channels Down/Up)
