modem keeps resetting every 5-10 minutes

Not sure whats going on or why it keeps resetting itself. Tried countless solutions online but none seem to work. Im starting to think its a firmware issue but I cant find any way to update it? Can anyone be of assistance. I pay $62.99 a month for internet service & would like to use it. Moving in a month & might have to switch up service which I really dont wanna do.

Any Coaxial splitter will work, though if you see one with a lower resistance (normally showing in db) for a specific outlet you would want to use that for the modem as it is the most sensitive device on the line. Cable boxes/TVs are far more forgiving.

I am having the exact same problem, came to the forum for help and no luck. It's pretty frustrating paying for a service I can't use due to the constant resetting.

The Cisco modems rarely (if ever) get firmware updates.  When I look from this end it appears the transmit power levels are barely within acceptable limits.  Are there any splitters you could try bypassing to see if that helps?

Ok my apologies. That seemed to be the issue. Any certain kind of splitter I should be using so I can run the cable to my tv also?

Thank you!

Well its back to resetting but not as frequent. I guess I should have been watching a movie or on the net for a while to test it. It was going good for the 1st few hours or so. Any other suggestions?

I've getting the same problem for months now, and Cox had been telling me to get the line checked first. I finally got them to come and check it out and they replaced the junction box on the main line. The modem is still resetting itself whenever I get downloads that are too much for it to handle. The modem is not that old, and I got it from Cox, but they keep insisting that I need a Docsys 3.0. My brother has a Docsys 2.0 like mine and he has no problem whatsoever. It's all BS.

Klevermind, The signal levels do not seem to be showing anything out of the ordinary and are showing bonded. The modem's logs are showing a number of power adjustments however which are likely due to something failing on the modem from power. Is the modem going through a power strip or going directly to a wall outlet when it is reseting?

I've since removed the splitter & it has been resetting far less frequently. It was tough at one point just to watch a movie & have my phone connected. Now my tv has no cable. Will any new coaxial cable splitter work?

I do love the news that they will be doubling the speeds!
