While on vacation over the holidays, I picked up my email at remote locations using my laptop. When I returned home there were several messages that were not on my desktop machines (All POP3 accounts). When I contacted Cox about my issue I was told that I needed to change to IMAP accounts and given instructions on Outlook Express to set up the account. I told the technician that I was using Outlook and not Outlook Express.
During this conversation, I told the individual helping me that my account was set up by a Cox technician in my home. Subsequently, I was informed to check the Microsoft forum for Outlook issues as Cox did not support all mail clients.
Since my issue was not addressed, I decided to check my webmail account to see if the messages were there in the event this should happen in the future and make sure that I received all my email traffic. To my shock, there were no email messages in the account. Yes, I have all my accounts set to retain email for 30 days.
Today, I checked my webmail and saw a limited number of messages only going back for about a week. My questions are where are the other messages and will they be restored? If the other messages are restored, will I able to sync my other accounts to ensure I have all my messages?

That sounds to me like you never let others know your new email address or they are ignoring that fact...

The most common reason for missing email is that the message setting, Leave Messages on Server, within your email client is not enabled when using POP mail. By default, setting up an email account using POP settings will download your email messages to one or more of the devices set up to check emails and depending on the advanced setting the 3rd party email client you use can actually remove the messages from the server all together. If you want to have the same messages appear on all devices as well as in webmail, your best option would be to use IMAP settings. The change however, would only affect new messages that come in to our servers after the change is made to ALL devices configured to check your cox.net email. The above link to the article "IMAP Email Server Settings" is the best place to start.

Have you registered for a cox.net address yet? There may be ways to set up forwarding on your att.net email account in the settings if you are still able to log in to that email account online. That way all messages still going to the att.net account would be forwarded to the cox.net email address you register.
