Mini-box Audio

I just got the mini-box and after getting it installed, I'm pretty happy with more channels being in HD.  However, when I had standard cable, I could access local HD channels in the 700's.  While the choice of channels was limited, they at least broadcast in 5.1 if the program was recorded that way.  Now it seems like all the channels are just in stereo.  Will there be a firmware update in the future to carry 5.1 channel audio as well as 1080i video?

The channels should be in HD(when available) if your using HDMI to connect the mini box to the TV. Have no information on the audio portion though. Are you using coaxial?

No, using HDMI.  Picture is HD, audio is stereo only it seems.

What do you mean by "it seems"? Are you going by ear or do you have it hooked up to a surround system which is telling you something? Audio transmission through HDMI would have to be digital, so at least it would be is PCM. Are you looking for Dolby?

It's hooked up to my surround system via HDMI.  Yeah, I'm hoping for dolby but it shows only running 2-channel PCM, no dolby 5.1 or anything.

The mini-box only supports 2.0 stereo:

Not sure if there will ever be an update to change that, but I doubt it.
