Mini box missing channels

Mini box is missing channels.  I have Advanced TV (220 channels).  Mini box has about 40 tv plus audio channels.

Chatted with rep... did multiple scans per his request and got a few more channels.  He disconnected so I thought I ould try the forum.

Is it time to return/exchange mini box?

How many channels shouldi get?  220?

The mini-box is not supposed to get all of your Advanced TV channels. It only gets the basic channels that you would normally get by plugging a coax straight from the wall to the TV, plus a few extras like Music Choice.

Hi Cox-TiVo,

Before adding the mini box to this TV, did the TV connect straight to the cable outlet as Chris mentioned? Since your User ID references TiVo, I want to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. Does this TV also connect to a TiVo?

The mini box will only provide channels in the Starter and Essential tiers.

I'm having the same problem. I have receivers in 2 rooms and recently added a mini box to my bedroom. My problem is I don't all the channels in the br like I get in the other 2 rooms. Shouldn't I be getting the exact same channels on all TV's?

Hi MawLou,

TVs connected via a mini box are able to tune TV Starter and TV Essential channels only. You can find your local lineup by entering your zip code at http://www.cox.com/residential/tv/channel-lineup.cox. To view a list of TV Essential channels, click on the "View Details" link at the top of the "TV Essential" column. Alternatively, a PDF version of your lineup is available by clicking on the "Print your lineup" link at the top of the page.

MawLou, what level of service is your subscription?  Specifically, what channels do you get on your set-top-box which you don't get on the minibox?

MawLou,

If you are in billing for TV Economy, you are only in billing for Starter channels direct to set. If you would like the higher selected Essential channels, you will need a digital receiver to get them.

Duh!!... These types of conflicting or unclear statements makes the situation worst. Becky K. says mini box will tune starter and Essential channels. Stephanie A says to get Essentials you need a digital receiver, I assume that means something other than a mini-box. Then you throw in Economy to further confuse people, no wonder people have hard time understanding.

Hi Everyone,

I apologize for all of the confusion. Cox TV Economy includes a variety of channels ranging across video service levels, as well as access to PPV and a handful of networks within the On DEMAND library. Since the mini box is a one-way receiver and cannot be configured for all of these services, the TV Economy channel lineup will not work correctly using a mini box.

Customers who subscribe to Cox TV Economy have at least one Advanced TV receiver. Additional outlets connected to a mini box will only receive channels assigned to the Starter lineup.

More confusion, Becky.  Take USA Network for example.  It's channel 34 in my market and listed as part of all plans except Starter.  By your logic my minibox shouldn't receive it ... but it does!  Are you sure you don't mean channels that are part of both Economy and Essential?

AllenP,

If you're subscribed to TV Essential or higher, Essential channels will be received on the minibox. The situation Becky described is specific to the TV Economy package.
USA  Network is part of Essential in your area, but is also a channel included in TV Economy. Because USA Network is a channel in Essential, customers with TV Economy will only receive the channel on TV's connected with an Advanced TV receiver.

I hope this helps.

Becky;

I am having the same trouble, but my mini box is missing ALL of my local channels.  These are in the essential section but they still do not show up with the mini box.
