Hey everyone,
For about two months now, I've been getting disconnects that last for 5~10 seconds, randomly throughout the day. I just checked my event log today and lots of errors that are common among these forums. My router is a Netgear CG3000D. My computer is the only desktop using a hardwire. I have a Antronix 2way 5-1000 splitter that i received last year from the Cox tech.
I am very well versed in computers, but networking I haven't dipped into at all.
I literally have no idea what is going on, but i'm sick of getting disconnects multiple times throughout the day.
Any help would be amazing.
Thank you,
Cody V

Hi Transflux,
Intermittent connection can be very frustrating, I agree with you on that. Usually it is an equipment issue or there is a problem with the signal coming into the home. We can check those things, I was able to pull up your account using the MAC address and your modem appears to be offline currently. Do you have any lights blinking on the modem? Are there any splitters connected? Would you be able to connect to a different cable outlet in the home? Those are just some basic steps we can try to see what is causing the problems you're having.

Hello Derrick,
Yeah sorry I had it disconnected and turned off last night so it was just bad timing for you to check it. Currently all my lights are on. I have 1 two-way splitter that was setup when the Cox Tech came out here and provisioned the router.
I've lived in this apartment since May 2013 and it only started giving me problems around Early December.
You can try and look at my modem/router now, it will be on all day. Also, the disconnects were very frequent yesterday. Almost every 20 minutes. They lasted about 5~10 seconds and was reconnected shortly after.
Let me know if there's any tests, pings, or logs I can give to you. It could be the splitter but its fairly new, and from I read around here people have replaced it and still have frequent disconnect problems.
Thank you,
Cody V

Hi Transflux,
I was able to look at the modem history, everything looks good from here. There was also no packet loss to the modem when I ran a ping test. Are you using a wireless connection? When you lose the connection I would like to have a device plugged in directly to the router to see if the connection is lost completely or if it is just a wireless issue. Also, another suggestion for troubleshooting purposes would be to remove the splitter (if possible) for a period of time to see if any disconnects happen during that time frame.

No I am using a direct ethernet cable from my modem/router to my computer. I just got disconnected about 30mins ago. I'll try removing the splitter and having a direct connection. Did you look at my event logs i provided in picture? There are tons of codes in there.
UPDATE: Disconnected at 1:00 pm pacific.
Thanks
Cody

I cannot tell, this is the only desktop using internet. I have my iPhone connected but the disconnection happens for such a short amount of time, i dont think there is a way to check for signal loss on the phone.
There isn't anything you can diagnose based on my event log? Heres an updated event log from right now.

I just sent an email, thank you.
I will edit the MAC Address, thanks.
