Sounds like you might have your number accidently forwarded to a non working number. Try dialing *73 on the house phone and then try calling it again from your cell. 

Also, does the error message say "Cox Communications" at the end?

I'd be curious to see what caller id showed on a call from that line. *73 is a good idea, but doesn't the phone normally give one short ring before the call is forwarded?
