All I can say about this Whole Home DVR system is DON'T do it. They don't tell you everything that is wrong with it or what your going to lose. Then when you call for support some technicians say there is no problem and others say there are.
Problems are you lose picture in picture. You get an error 2.1.2.5 or 2.1.2.9 known issues they have no resolutions for which make the system useless. Then they disconnected my surround sound saying that was the issue. Had to pay another company to come hook it all back up. All Cox can say is that's true and known issues.
After 25 years with Cox I'm going A T & T or Dish. So if you can read this DON'T do it.

Lack of PIP has nothing to do with Whole Home DVR. It is lacking with all DVRs that use Trio whether in a WHDVR configuration or not. A future update of the Trio EPG might have this fix, just as the December '12 update corrected slow motion, frame by frame issues, etc. If you plan on staying with Passport in the future, you won't be able to use the Cisco 8642/8742 or upcoming 98xx (G8) 6-tuner gateway/DVR. The 8240/8300 series DVRs are EOS.
As far as your surround sound system goes, a correctly wired surround sound should have no adverse affect on WHDVR.
