I have spikes of high latency when watching videos and when gaming. I don't believe the issues are coming from my side, because I close almost all internet-dependent programs while watching videos and Gaming. Any ideas?

1. What are the signal levels of your modem? They can be found at 192.168.100.1
2. Do you have a modem or a gateway? If a modem, have you tried connecting directly to it?
3. Do you have any data on the issue? A ping test or a trace-route?

I have the same issue in warner robins ga. My ping is always about 35-60ms. Bad for gaming. I tested my friends connection who also has cox just 3 miles down the road and his ping is consistently 1-6ms. Ive called and complained once. They wernt able to do anything they just put more attenuators and splitters in my line because i had 15dbm download signal. Now im at 2dbm download and 50 dbm upload but didnt do anything for thr latency issues. Ill be calling again. Its probably an overloaded node for my neighborhood. Since cable is regulated im pretty sure that overloading nodes is illegal. Maybe I need to call my US senator to achieve the same latency as my buddy up the road.
