What does it mean if the DS light is orange?

If it's a Cisco modem, it means channels are not bonded.  I would power it off for a minute or two then restart.  If it's still orange a call to tech support is in order.

Lack of channel bonding is often caused by low signal. It wouldn't hurt to check/bypass/replace any splitters you have connected before calling. Did you perhaps move the modem?
