Hello,
I've been working with Cox tech support reps over the phone and online chat without a much resolution. I actually work in IT and setup networking equipment for a living so I'll try and provide you with the best information I can.
I'm a new customer myself with a self purchased DPC3010 running some pretty old Firmware and I believe it's causing me to have upload speed issues. Can I update this firmware myself or do I have to wait for a push?

I've tested this connection with an OLD SB5101U DOCSIS2.0 modem and the upload speeds were fine. Please let me know if you need any additional info from me and thanks for any and all assistance with this problem.
I've been told my signals don't look very good on the Cox side either but my download speeds are great and very consistent. My Upload speeds are the problem usually around .4mbps or 400kbps with best being around 3mbps.

I notice the upload spikes higher then go down. Try this test and post the results from Summary > Details from Test. See below for example. Also, what plan or tier do you have?
To answer your question; no, you can't update the firmware yourself. It usually updates overnight in a couple of days, but a moderator can check for anything newer manually if required.

I've got the 50/5 Cox Internet Preferred Package. I wasn't able to get test results on that site that look like yours besides this text based version.
Is there anyways I can request a firmware push while I'm still in the window to return this modem for another? I may end up going back to Motorola if my problems with this Cisco device persist.

Edit: This is connected directly to the modem using a shielded Cat6 cable and the coax run is directly connected to the feed coming from the pedestal.

Test results don't show anything that might say why the upload is slow. Doesn't look like a connection problem. Having the firmware checked is prudent. It requires a moderator to take take notice and that have your account info(tied to your username).

A couple things we can try we can roll back the firmware to what is currently supported on our network, but that is not something we can reverse if done, what I would try first is seeing if the signal levels are the issue, are you connecting directly to the wall outlet with the modem or going through a splitter or amp that we can try to bypass to test?

It appears that some sort of an update came down yesterday and my speeds are reading around about correct on this firmware version.
So as long as all of the signal looks good on your end I may cancel my tech visit this afternoon I was told on the phone by a few reps that no matter which of the two modems I have were connected my signal looked poor on their end. What are you opinions on my signal today is it worth it to have the tech come out still and review the pedestal?
Edward, currently my new coaxial cable which is approx. 30ft is connected directly to the feed coming from the cox pedestal. The only thing that was in between that when I first ran the cable was a short extension piece that went down and connected with a grounded coupler. There are no splitters and the coax cable I ran is brand new. Thanks again for you response on this I appreciate it.

The speed test above are the current speeds. They're reading 50-55mbps Down and around 5-6.9mbps Upload now with the firmware version that you guys sent down to my modem or maybe it came down automatically I'm not 100% sure on that.
I'll have my signal levels looked again today and if everything is good on your end I'll cancel the appointment for this afternoon.
Thanks!

It appears my TX/RX levels are still all over the place and possibly a lot of noise my line yet. I suppose I'll let the tech come out and check the connection coming from the pedestal this evening to try and resolve these issues.

Your signal levels look good to me. They are probably seeing the low upstream and thinking it's a problem. As long as the upstream SNR is good, its fine and even good to have a low upstream but I think it still shows up red on their screens. Sounds like the modem updated the firmware by itself.

Just a quick update... Tech was out my levels were indeed a bit hotter than they should off been looked like my connection in the pedestal was possibly in some water.
The tech also properly removed some of the excess unused connections on the side of the house and brought the line in the way it was supposed to be done originally but wasn't.
My signal levels are now with in the -10 to +10 range and the upload speeds seem stable. Now that my connection is resolved for now I've got to battle some firmware on my R7000 router as it's dropping WiFi on my mobile devices so the fun must go on lol...
Thanks again to everyone who posted in my thread I appreciate all of your input and work on my issue. I'd also like to thank the technician but I don't believe I caught his name as it was quite cold outside last night.

I heard there were some firmware issues early on, but now alot of them are fixed. If you get stuck try out Smallnetreview's forums or DSLReports forum. Or you can ask here, I just don't know much about Netgear. More of a Asus kind of guy. Good luck though!
