Digital TV in June

What do I need a box for the change to digital when my TVs are now all have built in Digital tuners? Are you scrambling the signals beyond basic and adding an additional $1.99 charge for a descrambling box? If this occurs, I will drop to basic or better still, just get an antenna to get the basic channels free off the air.

Hi HD_Biker, here is a link that may prove helpful in answering your concerns about Cox going all digital: http://bit.ly/1woN6IL  I hope this helps.

If you read any of the posts, you would know all channels will be encrypted, including basic channels.  Once the digital conversion is complete, you won't be able to get anything directly off the cable, you will need a box or cable card.  Dropping back to basic won't help, your choices are box/cable card or OTA via antenna.

Despite all the PR doubletalk about benefiting customers it is simply a money grab on Cox part. As you questioned, they are scrambling all channels and charging you $1.99/month per TV to descramble because most people have moved to digital tuners (more money). Think about it, they could have simply offered mini-box to people with analog TV’s (less money).

Even Basic - Starter TV including the locals will be encrypted requiring a box for every TV, Just like Satellite, NO more FREE HD Programming !!!!  Cox really needs to stop airing that commercial.

Read the fine print at the end of the commercial. HD is free only when you subscribe to the SD channel. Ah, the fine print...
