Being a Cox customer for 20+ years I've been through dozens of cable boxes that have all had tiling and pixellation issues. I've recently had my newer box replaced with an older version as the Cox tech told me that all the newer ones had issues. The older one he put in would have issues as well but not to the extent of the newer ones. He also told me that these issues have been resolved with the new Contour boxes. i've already read one post where a customer is experiencing these issues with the Contour 6 box. Does anybody have any experience/insight into the Contour 6 box? I've recently received a mailer "claiming" I can receive the Contour upgrade for free and want to gather some info before I schedule the install. Thanks

I've had my Contour Record 6 box for over 2 years. It has had many quirks. But i've never had a problem with tiling or pixellation.

Tiling usually indicates the signal to the cable box isn't as strong as it needs to be. This could be from something as simple as a loose connection, to a dying splitter (internal or external), or to something outside your house completely--in our equipment. Are you still experiencing this? Does it happen on all TV's, or just one in particular?
Thanks,

Wow! Thanks for the informative reply. As expected, it would seem it best to wait awhile before upgrading to allow cox to work through their hardware issues. Though, I've waited quite along time for them to just get the HD recording boxes resolved
In response to the cox moderator, I've had all my connections and wiring checked multiple times. The latest visit was definitely the most thorough and, unlike other technicians, did find 2 questionable connections. That being said, he told the issues described above are pretty common and Cox has never found a suitable hardware supplier to provide decent hard drives in the cable boxes. He did assure me that the Contour 6 boxes should be fool proof. That apparently is not the case.
It's a shame Cox keeps raising their rates yet providing subpar equipment. I actually have been very happy with the support I've received from their technicians and have been a big proponent of theirs to those around me that have moved on to satellite or streaming content. Satellite may be calling my name unless I receive more replies with positive experiences with the new hardware.

It sounds as though you've both been having ongoing issues which need to be addressed. I'm really sorry to hear that and would really like to have these issues investigated further. In order to do so however, I will need your account information. Please email our team at cox.help@cox.com and include the following in your emails: Your full name, the name of the account holder if it differs from yours, the complete street address including your city and state and a link to your post here.

Had a second tech in within two weeks. He checked signal strength - no problems. this is a know problem that started approx. 2 weeks ago with the conversion to all digital and the Contour multi room boxes. Appears to be in the Fairfax, Springfield, Burke area of VA. Want to be refunded for the inability to use the DVR for two weeks and until they get this fixed.

Do you have a Arris or Cisco Contour 6 box? For example, if you have the Arris XG1v3 you can get into the diagnostics by holding exit for 5 seconds, press down twice then press 2. Couldn't find any screenshots but what you are looking for is your SNR and uncorrectables. You can find some info on Comcast forum. Will give more info once I know which hardware.

CISCO Contour 6 - my recorded program on Sunday night was so bad I wasn't able to see it. I thought maybe Cox had fixed their issue. Can say that I was recording two programs at the same time. Not sure if this is an issue or not - had techs in twice last one was aware of the problem in the area. Talk to tech about 2 weeks ago and he said problem had still not been resolved. Sounded to me it was a problem with the CISCO DVR 6 box and COX all digital conversion at the end of March
