*** Communications rip of

Here in Omaha Century Link  is making actual fiber optic cable connection in the neighborhoods of Omaha.  The internet speed is powers of ten faster than copper wire Cox.  I have been to the Far East cities of Singapore, Osaka, and Hong Kong.  You will realize that "speed" is a joke by Cox.  Google has done fiber optic in Kansas City and charge much less.

You have Netflix or Hulu plus at your finger tips for much less than Cox TV.  They are jacking rates because of it.  Look at your bill.

A salesman from Century Link came to my door.  Century Link will be in my neighborhood in a couple of months.  Actual fiber optic internet, more speed, and for much less.

See your bills spike up recently.  The good thing you will give the inferior Cox the axe.

The speed of the last mile actually has little to do with actual throughput of the most used websites, like Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Steam, etc. That has more to do with the bandwidth agreements between ISP and bandwidth providers, like XO.

Besides that, your argument that fiber is better copper(HFC) is debatable. There is more than connections rates when your considering performance, and there are network differences between fiber and HFC that matter more than just what the wire is made out of. It would be like comparing cars by looking at their gas line. Not saying your point of view is not valid, I just think you may be simplifying it a little.

FYI, Cox already hears you loud and clear and most of the ISP (including Charter) are taking steps to offer Google similar tiers. See this article.
