Cloud Drive Mac

Greetings

I installed cloud drive yesterday on Mac latest version of Yosemite. I've decided I do not want to use the app, just the web and iOS service. I removed the program however I still see an icon in the upper right hand corner of the menu bar. I looked to see if there was an uninstaller program and checked system preferences but not finding anything. Searched in spotlight as well. I selected manage preferences in the drop down of the cloud drive icon and nothing happens.

How do I remove this icon please?

Thanks

Hi John,

I've been battling with Cloud Drive for my Mac. How did you "remove" the program? At one point I uninstalled it by clicking the "Uninstall" button on the Cloud Drive Preferences panel in the Mac's System Preferences. The menu bar icon was gone, along with the program.

Were you ever able to successfully run a backup on your Mac before you removed it?

The information re: the Mac download file says it works on OS X 10.6 through 10.8. I'm still running 10.9.5 Mavericks so I called technical support and was told it runs on anything over 10.6. I suggested they update the wording which limits it at 10.8. She agreed that the language needed to be updated.

I still can't get it to backup. The first few attempts, it only backed up 1GB out of the 35GB I'd selected. That's when I uninstalled it - and reinstalled. Now the status says it's backing up but nothing is happening. The icon in the menu bar was an animated circular arrow during the 1st installation's backup attempts...now it's just solid. I think maybe it really doesn't work on anything over 10.8...?

My next call will be directly to Cox's Online Backup Team at 800-923-7580.

That is what I was looking for too in Sys Pref Nancy then I realized when I uninstalled, I removed from the applications folder. I reinstalled cloud drive and found the uninstall option in sys pref. Thank you Nancy for the tip!!

To your question about the backup, I am going to stick with Time Machine. Never had any issues. I plan to use cloud drive for files and photos. Can't beat 100 GB free storage :)

Just an update for anyone finding this thread -

I called Cloud Drive Support (Online Backup Team) and was told that it only supports Macs through OS X 10.9.2. They are working on an update, so I'll periodically check the download page.

In the meantime, he suggested that I manually upload files to my Cloud Drive. The only problem I'm finding is that you cannot upload folders containing files...only individual files. You can create folders on the Cloud Drive File Manager to put the files into...but I'd be spending a lot of time recreating my well-orgainized folder system from scratch and putting all the files where they belong. Not sure how much time I want to devote to this, but at least it's an alternative to running the backup.

I may consider spending the money on a Time Capsule so I can use Apple's built-in Time Machine system.
