Closed Captions

I had to have my Sony Bravia set off for a day to clean the tile in that room. Ever since I've not been able to get closed captions to work on my Cox controller, I must use the TV controller but that requires too many remotes on the couch to control. I've tried entering every code from the Cox book for the closed captions but still won't work. When I press settings is shows that the setting for closed captions is on, but none appear.

You have [of course] tried pushing the "CC" button on the remote a few times.

Hi ktrick,

Is a Cox receiver attached, or are you using the Cox Universal remote for the TV only?If you have a receiver, have you toggled CC off and on through the menu on the receiver?

closed captioning,

What model receiver do you have attached to the TV that is missing Closed Captioning? Is this happening on other TVs with a receiver? Have you checked the receiver settings to toggle the feature off and back on?

Also, pressing the DOWN arrow key (white key just below "select") will bring up an additional CC and SAP menu.

I tried replying to you but it got bounced back. Anyway the receiver is a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8240HDC. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Ktrick,

Have you tried resetting the box? I also recommend toggling the feature on and off in the settings. Please let us know the results.

Thanks,

Ah. This should have been mentioned in your first post. Is your IPG Rovi Passport? If so, disregard most of the Contour specific advice given above.

My Rovi Passport memory is too hazy to help you.
