Changes needed for IPv6?
I read elsewhere that Cox is due to implement IPv6 in the Hampton Roads VA area on 4/26/16. What changes to setup or equipment are needed to accommodate IPv6?
My current setup includes a Motorola/Arris surfboard SB6141 modem and Apple Airport Extreme router (latest version 6th edition). If needed I can switch the router to a Synology RT1900ac and use the Airport Extreme as a 2nd wireless access point for a more remote room that needs improved wi-fi signal.
Does Cox automatically update the modem for IPv6, or does the homeowner need to do this? My router is currently configured for IPv6 "link local only", as I was informed that the Apple AE router has some type of conflict with certain IPv6 implementations. Do I need to re-enable IPv6 on the Apple router, or change the router to a new Synology RT1900ac that allows for a great deal of custom configuration?
Does anyone know of a link for information on setup for IPv6?

4/26 is just when IPv6 is availabe via gateways. IPv6 was available via stand alone modems 3/3. See here for more info.

You need DHCPv6 AKA DHCP-PD, native and stateless. I suggest using Google's IPv6 DNS which can be found here. You can find more info on how different people set their routers up here.

Yes, do that. Apple routers have problems with IPv6;
Cox has determined that Apple AirPort Extreme routers, including Time Capsule models, can experience Internet connectivity problems when running IPv6 on firmware versions 7.7.3 and earlier.

Nothing new is happening at the modem. It came IPv6 compatible. The modem is a transparent bridge, like a switch, between your router and Cox's system. What is new are the IPv6 Cox system, but any configuration is done at the router. When RI got IPv6 I didn't even have to reboot my modem.
