So ever since I "upgraded" to the mini box I have not been able to view the History Channel and have problems with some others. Before the complete change I could view the channels by unhooking the box and plugging cable directly into the TV. Now that the switch to digital is complete I can't even do that. So I know is is line my TV or the cable line. I have spent over two hours on the phone with cox about this and nothing has helped. (BTW - one rep said I was not alone in this - other complaints have come in.) I am so disgusted. I and seriously looking at changing services for all - TV phone and internet. This is the last straw!!!!

That really sent me over the edge is the customer service (or lack of) that I received yesterday at the Portsmouth, VA location. I had an work order number and the rep tried to charge me to a new contour box. i was told over the phone I could get a regular size cable box. I said "oh no I'm not and and he said "oh Yes". Very rude and has a very long way to go with customer service skills. Al I want is what I have been paying for to work.

What video package do you have? What happens when you go to history channel?

We have TV Essential. On the history Channel, we were getting a horrible picture and sound, since yesterday we only get a message that the channel is not available at this time.

Is the cable straight from the wall to the mini box or is there a splitter?

Straight from the wall into the Mini Box and we connect the mini to the TV using the HDMI cable.

Straight from the wall into the Mini Box and we connect the mini to the TV using the HDMI cable. Again, when the we were able to before the final switch to all digital, I could unplug the cable from the mini box and take it directly to the TV and get the history channel without problems.

Digital and analog signals are a little different in that you can still get a picture with a weak signal analog but once the signal hits a level you won't get anything digital. Please swap the ends of the cable, what's in the wall put in the mini box and vice versa.

Okay - I will try that. I am at work right now but in a little over an hour I will give it a try. It seems like many more channels would be affected if it were the cable, but it is worth a shot.

I don't know who wrote the new Cable M&P, but that step needs to be removed. Part of it is just to get the customer to double check the connection, without actually asking them.
Have you tried the self test? See page 37 of manual on how. Also, you can get a general signal reading from menu > customer support > technical support > minibox information.

Technowhelp,
Thanks for the heads up on this. I thought that was BS too and did not switch the cable when I got home. This is the second mini box and obviously both were hooked up fine or I would not be getting any channels. I will run the self test tonight. I have been on Chat, two long phone calls and at one of the Cox stores to discuss this and no one mentioned anything about the self test before.

In the last two day the regular signal went away and it is all digital. The digital signal for that channel is horrid. I have been unable to to get the History Channel since I started with the Mini Box. It is not the box, it is not the cable, it is the Signal coming from COX.!!!!!!!

I have been having the same problems since I started using the Mini-box. Getting ready to get rid of Cox all together. Not being able to watch what i want when I want to (I pay for this ability) and having problems with the Internet connection also is driving me crazy. The way my TV and Mini-box are set up it is hard to get to them and disconnect them on a regular basis. I think this Mini-box is a way to get you to upgrade to a more expensive box that I do not need. Most things I watch are local channels that I do not need cable for and the few other channels I will get use to not having. Ready to cut the cord.
