cable box

My cable box has begun clicking incessantly, so much so that we have unplugged it. What could be the problem?

Normally clicking sounds come from the hard drive that stores the recorded content in a DVR.  It's normal to hear some clicking but if it seems it's gotten particularly loud or more constant it could be an indication of a problem requiring the box to be swapped.
