Cable box interface or software upgrade

Does anyone happen to know if Cox is planning any upgrade to their cable box software or interface? Compared to all the other providers, Cox is way behind on the look and functionality.

Thanks!

What box? Is the IPG Passport or Contour?

Right now I just have the DCX3200-M but I believe my HD box was the same 8 months ago. I also have AT&T at my rental, my sister has DirecTV and my girlfriend has Time Warner. Comparing them all, Cox just seems a bit behind on the styling, the favorite's functionality is lagging, no user profiles, ads are pixelated, menu is in 4:3, etc. Maybe I just can't find some of these things but?? The channel line-up and quality are great, can't complain.

Hi Fivex5,

The DCX3200 and other Motorola receivers use our more traditional Rovi Guide, while our Cisco HD and DVR receivers use the Contour Guide. Based on the features you mentioned, it sounds like you might enjoy the Contour Guide. You can compare the two Guides side-by-side at http://welcome.cox.com/advanced-tv/program-guide/#tab1. For a more detailed look at what the Contour Guide has to offer, go to http://welcome.cox.com/advanced-tv/contour-tv/.

You shouldn't be experiencing any pixelation during TV shows or commercials, regardless of which receiver/Guide you use. Pixelation--also called tiling--is when the TV picture breaks up into little squares or pixels. Does this happen often?

You are using Passport, an old IPG created by Rovi. Contour is 16:9, has no ads, has options for multiple users, etc. Sounds like you need to move away from Passport.

Bingo, thanks guys. Just ordered the HD Contour box. Looks like it will do everything I want it to do. Thanks to everyone for your help!
