In order to make Classic Webmail consistent with other web properties, Cox has enabled advertising. Is there a way to disable ads in Classic Webmail? No, there is not a way to disable the ads. Is Cox sharing my personal information? No, Cox does not share customer data with advertisers or third-parties. Why are we preventing new webmail customers from accessing Enhanced Webmail? Enhanced Webmail has been in Beta for 3 years and is not optimized for mobile access; therefore, Cox has decided to cap users on Enhanced Webmail in order to obtain operational efficiency.

Another words Cox wants money, added advertisements probably because a competitor did, and noticed it didn't work with flash interface they have with enhanced, so they disabled new customers from using it. Cox also lets malware advertiser be on their homepage. I think if they have to support email with ad revenue, they should just close it.
