I recently received notification that my DVR STB is subject to HDD failures and lock ups. Since I have been experiencing some of the symptoms and lockups, I would really like to exchange my STB as Cox has recommended to do so. My problem is I don't want to lose the amount of recordings on the current system and the program record settings.
1.) Is it possible to upload my "Record Program" settings to my account or a cloud based app, so that I can retrieve it later on the new STB?
2.) Is it possible to temporarily download the program content of the HDD to a NAS device on my home network, so that it can be uploaded onto the new STB?
Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately it is not possible to save the programming due to DRM restrictions. Binge watching is probably the most effective workaround to get use of the currently recorded programming.

What about my settings for series recordings? Is there a way to export a list to the cloud or a USB drive?

Unfortunately those will not be recoverable either. All recording and preferences are unique to the box.

Is Cox reimbursing their customers for this inconvenience? Why didn't Cox do proper hardware testing before releasing to the field? QC Please! What promise is there that this new box will be any better? No one can even confirm what box it would be.

Their reimbursement for the "difficult transaction" was that of (1) free PPV movie.

It's disappointing that these STBs are basic network computers that have a hdd and an ethernet port, and there is no protocol in place for helping paying customers move programing from one device to another. Even if it had to be done at a service center, due to the DRM issue, I would gladly drive to one and have it done.
