If you are like me and are sick of the slow internet speeds, not getting even close to what you pay for, endless tech visits and no end in sight then simply visit the link below. Fill out the complaint form and file your complaint with the F.C.C. I've had technicians come out, new lines, new cables, new equipment, change speeds/plans, upgraded to Docsis 3.0, signal resets, and my speeds are STILL slow. I actually managed to clock a 0.00Mbps upload speed today. Cox deserves an award for that. And yet, they still say "our network shows no issues, have you tried resetting the modem?" We all know Cox's infrastructure in some areas just cant handle the traffic. What's their solution? Sign more new customers and add to the already overflowing network! YES! Brilliant! We all know Nodes work best when overloaded. They seemed determined to avoid admitting they are throttling speeds and their infrastructure is in shambles. File a complaint with the F.C.C. and put the pressure on Cox. What they are doing is criminal and we deserve to get what we pay for. https://consumercomplaints.fcc.gov/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=38824 It takes 5 minutes and may actually get something done for you. We all need to do this asap. Re: Continued outages reimbursement All you need to do is complain, politely, to a customer service agent. Keep in mind when you contact an agent that it is not their fault you are experiencing problems. Treat them with respect and you'll be surprised at what they'll do for you. Explain to them your problems and tell them you'd like credit for the days/hours you experienced an outage and/or slow speeds and they will credit your account accordingly. You can contact them via phone or through the phone app. Through the app click the "support" icon at bottom right of app then tap "Message us" in top right of screen. Once you start a chat type "Live Agent" and proceed through the prompts to get an agent. I have not paid full price for my internet in months due to the unbearably slow speeds. I get a minimum of $30 deducted from my bill each month (still way overpriced for the speeds I get) because my speeds are a joke. I pay for gigabit down and 35Mbps upload. Currently I am getting 10.37Mbps down and a whopping 0.03Mbps up. This is a joke and really ticks me off. Re: TERRIBLE upload speeds! Major packet loss! Update: Still nothing new. Technician came to my home, ran a new line from power pole to my outside tap on the exterior of my home and nothing has changed. Just took this speed test. Still TERRIBLE upload speed. A few days ago my download speed was cut to 150Mbps but the upload was good. How does that even happen without it being done intentionally? Today I am getting less than 1.50Mbps up. More standard reply emails and support asking me to reset my modem or check connections, nothing of actual use. The email I was asked to write netted the same result,. I provided all the info and got a copy/paste reply that contained absolutely nothing pertaining to my problem. It was clear they didn't even read my email but instead sent a standard, predetermined response. I will share my email and the reply below. My upload speed as of a few mins ago: The email chain I was asked to send for nothing: Here is the first email I was asked to send in response to TiffanyR's message above (red marker is blurred out personal info) I would post the reply I got from Cox's "Social media team" (no idea why they are even involved other than to keep public/bad exposureto a minimum and off the public internet i.e. damage control) but there is a disclaimer at the bottom stating I cannot share the email with anyone but myself which is just ridiculous and shows Cox is always out to cover their own tail over transparency or resolve. Another red flag. The email basically stated the typical mumbo jumbo, check connections, reset modem, sorry for the frustration, blah blah blah. We've all seen it and it contains nothing that leads me to believe anyone actually read my original detailed message. They even asked me to run a speed test and to share the results, something clearly documented in this very thread. Mind you I sent the link for this thread to them in the first email but they clearly did not bother reading any of it. My response to their reply: Why am I sharing all of this? Mostly to document it and transparency because I think it could be helpful to others and pertinent in the future. Hope this helps someone. Re: TERRIBLE upload speeds! Major packet loss! New line was ran from my outside tap to the power pole. No changes. Still slow, unreliable speeds. Re: Obvious upload speed cutoff time! Well here we go, almost 4pm here. These are my current speeds. TERRIBLE Download speeds, I pay for gigabit. Will post new speeds after 4pm as proof of throttling. Re: No internet after cox contractor at my place. Customer support says modem is my problem I feel your pain. I have the same issue with the upload speeds. They throttle them during peak times because their infrastructure cannot handle it any longer. They need to upgrade the network and allow for more traffic. I see the complaints all over the internet so I can't imagine Cox isn't aware of the dissatisfaction with a vast majority of their customer base. The fact that they know how upset people are, have the FCC on their back and continue to do nothing really chaps my a s s. I would imagine a Class action lawsuit isn't far behind. Re: Obvious upload speed cutoff time! I have gone through the same exact issues. New equipment, new lines, new cat cables and yet the problems persist. I have no doubt in my mind that they are 100% cutting upload and download speeds simply because they cannot adequately handle the amount of traffic during peak hours. Please file a claim. It's all we can do at this point and if they get enough complaints they wil be forced to do something about it or risk major fines or worse with the FCC. From what I hear the new head of the FCC isn't messing around with this kind of stuff and take it quite seriously. I cannot wait for gigabit Fiber to be available here even if its with AT&T. They really did screw the public over and we all should have access to fiber by now since most of the major ISPs took government money in the 90s to upgrade and provide reliable high speed internet to all or to at least future prep their networks for more reliable speeds and services. Instead they pocketed most of that money and left the customer to deal with the problems and lack of options. Cox just needs to add more nodes to be able to handle more traffic. It's as simple as that. Hope you have better luck in the future. Re: Obvious upload speed cutoff time! I am in Central actually myself. I feel your pain, I really do. Nothing seems to change it though and nothing seems to push cox to show they even really care. They know we have no other options and really abuse that fact. I would definitely encourage you to file an FCC complaint and start documenting the times they drop UP speeds. If enough of us file complaints then they will be forced to do something. When they give me reasons why this happens its all standard cookie cutter answers. If the service was messed up by a bad line or my equipment then I wouldn't ever get the speeds I pay for. It just wouldn't work at all, period. You can definitely see that during high traffic hours they limit the up speeds, as well as the down speeds, to as little as legally possible. Re: TERRIBLE upload speeds! Major packet loss! Also, my connection was great from early this morning up until 4pm. I was getting decent down speeds and great up speeds but when it got close to 4pm (3:50pm approximately) my up speed was just turned nearly off. How can you explain such precision and consistency each day at the same exact time? That is no coincidence. Every cox customer doesn't just randomly decide to start using their up speeds right at 4pm each day. I'd love to hear an explanation for this. Re: TERRIBLE upload speeds! Major packet loss! Let's say the technician comes out, finds no problems with my equipment or on Cox's end. What happens then? Am I just left to deal with it or will something be done to resolve this issue. It's crystal clear to me what is really going on here. Cox cuts upload speeds to under 1.00Mbps between 4:00pm and 10:30pm for what I can only assume is an overloaded network (no one ever gives me a straight answer). I know this for a fact as I have kept track of it. I can time it nearly down to the minute when my up speeds are going to be cut from 30+Mbps to under 1.00Mbps. So please, explain to me how this gets resolved or why this is happening.
