Re: Daily Intermittent Connection Loss - Louisiana Can you post your downstream and upstream signal power levels as reported by the modem? It should say in the modem manual how to use a web browser to check these. Re: Constant Internet Connection Failures in Vegas (89122) You're downstream signal levels look fine but your upstream signal levels are below what's recommended for the modem. See: https://arris.secure.force.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB6183-Cable-Signal-Levels If you go straight from the wall to the modem with no splitters it sounds like you'll need a service tech to fix whatever is causing your upstream signal levels to be so low. Re: Daily internet disconnect in the evening This doesn't make sense to me. An attenuator will reduce your signal levels, not increase them. An amplifier will increase the signal levels but at the expense of added noise. Additionally, the signal levels required will vary by the type of modulation used but for the SB6183 the most common ranges for high speed internet will want upstream power ranges below 51 dBmV (but again it depends on your modulation type and how many channels are bonded). https://arris.secure.force.com/consumers/articles/General_FAQs/SB6183-Cable-Signal-Levels If you are sure you bought an attenuator then it sounds like the power level was actually too high for the cable modem and the modem was having a hard time handling the signal and was causing internal errors. Installing the attenuator then allowed the cable modem to handle the signal and solved the problem. Re: Constant internet drops, especially in the morning Ok, that's not what I was told by a customer service rep, I asked specifically if I had to sign up for the service plan to have a technician come out and they said yes. Who then should I contact to get a technician to come out to check the signal (understanding it's a $75 fee if the issue is inside the home)? Re: Daily internet disconnect in the evening Same issue, it's gotten really bad lately. I tried to make my own thread about it but it got removed because apparently it's spam despite it being my first post ever? Anyway, my issues are mostly in the mornings. Just this morning I had about 6 or 7 drops in the course of about 3 hours. I tried to get a service tech to come out but apparently because I purchased my modem they won't send anyone out at all unless I sign up for a service plan agreement. About at the end of my rope with my service on this and am looking for alternatives. Constant internet drops, especially in the morning I've been having internet connection problems every few days for a while but mostly just dealt with it but lately it's become really bad to the point that it will drop multiple times within an hour some mornings. The modem will try to reconnect on its own but it will usually take a long time to reconnect unless I unplug and plug the modem back in. Once in the afternoon/evening it tends to do better but still is an issue. I purchased a brand new modem roughly 2 months back hoping that would solve it but it hasn't helped. I'm posting a sample of the error log of when the connection drops as well as the current signal levels after just another restart. I was also frustrated to be told by customer support that since I'm not renting my modem that there's no way to have a technician come out to the house to even check the signal unless I sign a $10 a month support agreement.
