is there a required modem on gigablast?

i have my own docsis 3.1 modem and i try to upgrade it to gigablast but the rep said i need to have a cox modem

You need a Cox certified modem...not a Cox modem.

It looks like you have access to fiber at your home and we would need to install equipment specific for that. That is likely what the representative meant by "Cox modem".
