Is Cox SMTP server required?
Does Cox require you to use their SMTP servers for all outgoing mail? Or can outside SMTP servers be used such as that from a hosting account?

I don't want to waste more time on this issue until I know if it's even allowed. Some ISPs allow it while others do not. Thank you.

When configured in the email client of your choosing, all Cox email accounts are required to send using secure server settings via the Cox SMTP server. If you are using email from another domain you can configure the account to use that domain's server settings.
