Forum posts have become spam!

Starting yesterday, Feb 3, my email account has been getting blown up with Cox Support Forum posts. I have never subscribed to the forum (although I do regularly brows it). Last night and again today I went to my account “Settings” and unchecked EVERY checkbox under Options, Email Digests, Subscriptions, and Notifications. After clicking on “Save” nothing happens and the settings do not appear to hold. I continue to get numerous Forum Posts in my email.
How can I make it stop?

Same thing is happening to me too! What changed? I know I didn't do anything to make this happen.

I just marked a bunch as SPAM.

STOP IT NOW COX!

Same here.  I have a lame duck email account (no longer a customer) and I’ve got about 50 emails in the last 24 hours.  I’m trying to clean out my account, not add to it.

@JP Sports

Are you still having this issue since cleaning them out?

I unsubscribed from one, and received about 3 or 4 more a few hours later.  The last one I received was a little over 24 hours ago, so hopefully they have been contained.  Now, about all those spam emails from VA Rate Guide, LumiGuard Solar Lights, and ADT (to name a few) that flood our inboxes daily...I wish THOSE would stop.

Option 1: Turn off Forum notifications to stop the emails.

  1. Click the profile icon in the upper right of this page.
  2. Click Settings menu item
  3. Click Subscriptions tab
  4. Click Unsubscribe for each Forum group listed.

You don't need to click "Save".

This will stop notifications in the Forum groups (TV Forum, Internet, Phone, Apps) where "Unsubscribe" was selected.

Option 2: If you prefer to continue receiving Forum notifications (without the emails), you can retain subscriptions and block email from cox-notification@coxforums.com.

  4. Click Inbox menu item.
  5. Click Filter Rules menu item.
  6. Click Add New Rule in upper right.
  7. Type a rule name, e.g. Discard Forum notification emails
  8. Click Add condition.
  9. Select From option.
  10. Select Contains option (default).
  11. Enter cox-notification@coxforums.com in the box.

I would be better if Cox did not do this in the first place.

Cox wouldn't have had anything to do with this.  It was most likely caused when their software vendor was fixing something else and accidentally enabled an existing email notification process that had been disabled for years.  But, it appears the emails have stopped now.
