Hello Haileighhamrick,
I appreciate your concern for account safety, and we absolutely want to be sure your account concerns are being addressed. There may be some reasons why a representative or department would attempt to reach out to an account holder and request authentication for account security. It sounds like you did the right thing after feeling the call was potentially a scam. Hanging up and changing your PIN or answer to the security question after the call was very smart of you. It's not clear if the call was legit just going off of the phone number on your caller ID. For those who are wanting to know how to change the PIN or security answer can find those steps here https://www.cox.com/residential/support/changing-your-cox-pin-on-coxcom.html.
Going forward, if you receive a call from Cox regarding an account concern, you may instead call our support line found on our website or online chat for help. https://www.cox.com/residential/contactus.html.
