wiring for multiple tvs

I have several tvs and phone.  my phone is no longer working and in order to fix, cox says it needs to rewire all tv eliminating all splitters..Is this really necessary or are they just preparing to be able to exactly how many tvs I have and then change for for each one..I currently only have one box with many services on the main tv but the others are old and used rarely and only connnected with cable wire with limited stations which is just fine..I am afraid all this new wiring will not work with old tvs and I will open a can of worms..maybe I should just drop phone service with cox. I have heard too soon each tv will have to have its own box like ATT.. any input for me before I go ahead.

You have heard...where? Cox has announced no plans to drop its digital tier, and I've heard of no plans to eliminate analog tuners from new TVs. I'll ask again, you heard...where?

As far as your wiring goes, there is no way Cox can connect all of your TVs without splitters unless they use a separate drop for each TV. Unlikely.

I say...tell Cox to fix the phone. Hey...isn't there a Cox Phone Forum around here?

Yeah...http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/phone_forum/f/6.aspx

To be fair, they have been moving more channels to SDV in some markets, and moving the channels around. Not disagreeing with your assessment that it hasn't been announced officially, but I also think it's inevitable. I think its 4 HD channels per 1 analog channel? Not to mention broadband bandwidth. Comcast made the switch I believe, and Cox usually fallows behind Comcast by a couple years I find. Of Course this is all conjecture. I think Cox is smart enough that if they start losing enough customers as they start removing channels from the analog lineup, then they will rethink their decision.  Then there is IPTV, though Im not sure how that fits into Cox's plans. Thoughts?

Don't forget while we do offer installation of additional cable outlets for a fee there are no monthly service charges associated with having additional cable outlets.  I do see where the modem is also reporting high transmit power levels which may also be affecting phone equipment.  A service call would probably be the best way to address these issues.

Well, with 38Mbps to work with, and error correction needed in the equation, I think that 3 HD channels per 6Mz of bandwidth is about the maximum, unless they plan on doing some serious compression. So SDV and better compression techniques (H.264) should do the trick.

Couple of years? The OP used the word "soon."
