WiFi Password

How do I retrieve or change my password for my WiFi? I got a new cellphone and I cannot get it to connect to my WiFi because apparently I cannot remember my password to log on. I don't know if i should be contacting Cox or the manufacturer of the router or modem. Please help. i want to stop eating up my phone data as soon as possible :)

Hi, it may help to include more information such as the model # and manufacturer/brand of the router so that our forum users can assist. Contacting the router manufacturer is also an option. Look on the router to see if there is a sticker with the information on it.

First you have to log on to your router from a browser ... enter the router's ip address in the address bar.  Default ip may be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1  If neither work follow instructions here: http://setuprouter.com/networking/how-to-find-your-routers-internal-ip-address/

Enter ID and password to logon to the router, Belkin defaults are blank for both ID and password.  If you have changed them from the default and don't remember, you will have to do a factory reset which will reset all your settings.

Once loged on to the router go the the WiFi setting section.  Your WiFi password is in the Wireless/Security screen.  It may be called the Pre-Sharred Key (PSK).  See here for some screenshots: http://setuprouter.com/router/belkin/f6d4230-4-v3/WiFi.htm

Focus on the router, the modem has nothing to do with your wireless setup.  Unless you purchased this router from Cox, I would contact the manufacturer for additional help.  If it's not Cox's equipment they will probably charge you for tech support.
