Why no PAC-12 network on mini box?

Simple question, any answers?  We get it on our other cable box.  If you try to enter the channel number, it just defaults to the next channel in the lineup.

What tier is the PAC-12 Network in? The mini-box only receives the Starter and Essential tiers.

What City?

Is this on the SD or HD version of the channel?

My first thought is perhaps the PAC-12 network channel is a Switched Digital Video (SDV) channel, and the Cox Mini box cannot tune any channels that are delivered using SDV.

I just checked the PAC-12 network channel in Phoenix, AZ and here it is Not a Switched Digital Video (SDV) channel

Check MSNBC HD, MPLEX HD, FXX HD, Fox Business News HD, POP HD they probably are also SDV channels.

you wii have to call or wait until a cox rep sees this PAC12 is  in the sports and info pack in areas without a member school.

Hi T-bone,

In Orange County, the SD version of PAC-12 (channel 78) is an SDV channel. As Bryan mentioned, the mini box is unable to tune SDV channels. PAC-12 HD is broadcast in MPEG-4 format. This means that a Contour receiver or an MPEG-4 capable Digital Cable Ready (DCR) device with Cox CableCARD is required.

We're still in the process of moving channels around as we transition to all digital, so it's likely that the PAC-12 SD channel will be moved to the standard lineup at some point in the near future.

Could you please double check on the Cox Mini box and MPEG-4 format capabilities.  From my understanding the Mini boxes should be capable of receiving MPEG4/H.264 format channels.  The non-custom version of the Evolution uHD DTA does support MPEG4/H.264 channels.

So did Cox disable this ability on the Cox custom version, or did Cox not include MPEG4 decoders?  I am fairly certain most chipsets produced currently do have both MPEG2 & MPEG4 decoders.

The Cisco DTA 170HD was MPEG 4 capable. I don't see why newer models would not be. The DTA270HD is the replacement for the DTA170HD, which has reached its EOL cycle.
