volume and channel controls
I set up my mini boxes a couple days ago, but can't seem to figure out how to use volume and channel controls on BOTH the tv remote and the mini box remote (URC-2220-R). Would love some help from someone since my questions have so far gone unanswered. Currently I can use only use the volume on the tv remote and the channel search on the mini box remote or vice versa.

Did you go though the remote programming in the startup guide? It is on pg 15 here: http://www.cox.com/wcm/en/residential/datasheet/cox-mini-box-install-setup-user-guide.pdf
Are you having problems programming the remote? Does it support you make / model TV? If so, what make / model TV do you have? If properly programmed, the remote should control the channel and guide on the minibox and on/off, volume and mute on your tv.

I thought I replied to your post, but it is not showing, so I will go over it again: I HAVE gone through the remote programming guide without any luck fixing the issue.
I have two vizio tvs. The first is model E422VL and on that one I can change volume with the tv remote, but cannot change channels with the same remote. AND, on the Cox remote, I cannot change volume, but can change channels.
The second Vizio is model E190VA. On that one I can change the volume with the tv remote, but cannot change channels and on the COX remote, both volume and channels work ok.
On, off and mute work ok on both tvs with both remotes.
Suggestions?
I have 2 other (older) tvs, but they are not used much and it doesn't matter even though they have do the same type of issues.

Channel changing occurs on the mini box and you will need to use the Cox supplied remote. This remote can usually also be programmed for volume control on the TV this box is connected to. At this time there are no programming codes available to program other remotes to the mini box. I hope this helps.

ok, it might help if I could figure out how to program the cox remote for volume control. I have tried both fixed and variable....neither allow me to change the volume with the cox remote.

Does the Cox remote power the TV off and on?

This link may help. http://www.urcsupport.com/html.php?page_id=1001
This is to assign the volume to the TV.

Thanks, but I tried doing that and the cox remote still won't change the volume. This is VERY frustrating!

Is there any way to "reset" the tv to what it was before I hooked up the mini box? Maybe if I could go through the complete setup again, it might do something right. Thoughts? Maybe just unhook the hdmi cable from the box or unplug it or something?

Is sounds like you might be talking about a factory reset. Check the TV menu for a "restore defaults" or "restore factory settings" option.

No, I had already tried that. Can I completely unhook the cables and restart the whole setup or will that mess it up more? I think I saw something on the cox website too about doing some sort of reset. Is that what it would do?

Hi Torivee,
Please walk through the following steps and see if they fix the volume issue.
Is the Cox remote now capable of adjusting the volume on your TV?

No, that didn't correct the problem. Still cannot use volume control with the Cox remote.

Well, I FINALLY got it to where I can control the volume on BOTH the tv remote and the Cox remote. (I still can't change channels with the tv remote, but volume was the most important to me).
AllenP: I went back through the "easy" setup guide to see if I could find anything at all. I tried the quick start remote set-up on page 15 one more time and for some reason, this time it worked!
