Upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 not getting any change in speed, slower than my plan is supposed to offer.

I am in Las Vegas and just upgraded to a new Motorola SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 modem from a 2.0. My download speed is no different than it was before the upgrade (16Mbps). My preferred plan is supposed to give me 25Mbps when taking advantage of a DOCSIS 3.0 modem which is why I purchased this upgrade (Cox sent a message saying I should upgrade in order to take advantage of the new higher speeds my plan offers).

Why is there no speed improvement after this upgrade? Shouldn't I be getting the 25Mbps I'm paying for?  Does my modem have the most up to date firmware on it? How can I tell? By the way my SB6141 is the retail "white" version.

Thanks

I live in Florida,

I also bought an SB6141, and NO we are not going to get what we pay for. My issue is the service lines in my hood are old and the signal leaks. Yes your signal can leak, especially on old lines. Cox knows this, i know this because one of their service personnel told me so.

I have just recently have been experiencing a loss in signal my cable logs the same thing every time it happens.

TLV-11 - unrecognized OID;CM-MAC=XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX;CMTS-MAC=00:14:69:9e:52:e8;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0

I purposely XX the MAC Address.

Not sure if its the modem or COX.

Hi desmo,

I can take a look at the account and see what's going on with the connection speed.  There are a few things that we can check on our end (modem signal levels, check for packet loss, etc.) to make sure that it is functioning properly.  Also are you connected to a router or directly to the modem?  I would recommend a direct modem to computer connection just to test the speed as well. If you can email me at coxhelp@cox.com, with the account information (name and address on the account) and the issue I can also verify you are using the latest firmware for the modem.

This message is actually a non-error event that isn't service impacting.  When looking at the full modem log I'm not seeing any error events actually.  Are you able to try testing without the router to see if that could be contributing in any way?

Cox took care of my problem. Everything is working perfectly now.
