When will Picture in Picture feature of my television be returned with Contour? Cox tech said it would be an upcoming software update.

I was unaware any box actually had PIP. Do you mean PIP feature of the cable box or your TV? If your TV, you just need a second input. Typically people will use a cable splitter to create two signals, one direct into the TV and one into the box. Then one source for the PIP would be the signal from the cable box, and one would be the signal direct from the splitter.
The reason why Cox has the feature disabled is for it to work, it would need to sacrifice one of the tuners inside the box to use for PIP. And since the whole point of the new Contour box is multiple recordings at once throughout the house, I doubt the feature will ever be enabled on the Cisco boxes.

It is possible to activate with a software upgrade, but it is doubtful Cox will do so because of the above stated Whole Home DVR reasons. The "Record 6" DVR might handle it OK, but I doubt that either of the 2-tuner DVRs that also run on Trio (Contour) - the 8642HDC/8742HDC - would handle it without customer confusion.

Really? Do you know if PIP is one of them? That would be really big news. I know you can't confirm a date, but can you confirm that will be included?

Don't count on it they never brought it to the Motorola boxes, but the ipg software supports it. They had it on the SA/Cisco platform.

I'd be willing to bet that PIP is not one of them.

Hate to tell you this, but the current Contour "boxes" (the 8642HDC, 8742HDC, and 9865HDC DVRs) are all part of the Cisco "platform." And, the current IPG software (Contour) does not support it. Perhaps a new revision will, but not the current one.

Health Edge: I had the SA 8742HDC and before that a similar box. They had PIP under both SARA and Passport. It was not a great implementation in that the PIP was in what would be a corner of the 4:3 image even when displaying an HD 16:9 image. Still I was a tad disappointed to see that there was no PIP with Contour.

PLEASE don't try to tell me you had a Cisco 8742HDC with SARA (or Passport for that matter.) It is a Trio (now Contour) box. Maybe a few had Passport in some locations, but none had SARA. IIRC, all MoCA DVRs have Trio (Contour.)

I never said Contour I said they never brought it to the Motorola boxes that run on the Passport DCT which on a different cable system have PIP enabled on the Motorola boxes.

Domino: sorry, looked it up and wrote down the wrong model number, is was 8240HDC and before that 8300. But why are you so consistently hostile?
