Upgraded from cox hsi preferred to hsi premier but still getting same speeds

I recently tried to take advantage of the 5$ to increase my internet tier but after a few days I noticed I was getting the same exact speeds.  I called in to tech support and their solution is to send a tech out so I just went back to preferred to save myself the headache.  After doing some research online I saw this post in the forum http://forums.cox.com/forum_home/internet_forum/f/5/t/2038.aspx.  This person seems to have the same problem and someone fixed his issues but I'm not sure how.  Please help ChrisL!

At this time I'm not showing you actually be subscribed to Premier.  How did you choose to contact us to take advantage of the offer?

I used the cox website to upgrade with the 5$ upgrade a tier but I actually went back to Preferred after I realized tech support wasn't going to be able to help me.  They were going to send out a tech which I really don't want to wait around all day for.  I saw the thread I posted earlier in hopes it would be an easy fix.

It actually is an easy fix provided the representative you're working with understand the problem.  The issue is we have two Premier services basically, one for legacy customers and one for those that have upgraded to DOCSIS 3.0 modems.  Sales people not being technically minded are informed of this however may not fully understand what is actually going on.  If you wanted to try again and have issues let us know here and we can help. -Chris

Sure I'm totally up for trying again.. provided the service works as advertised.  I actually upgraded my modem recently to the DPQ3212 so maybe they had me listed as a legacy.

Not only does the D3 modem have to be provisioned on the account but a change also need to be made on the billing side as well.,  Note that there is no change in cost but rather it's a second layer of safety to make sure a 2.0 modem isn't provisioned for more service than it can handle.

One thing I noticed was that on the services and equipment page it notes:

"According to our records, you have no Cox-provided equipment linked to your account."

I mentioned that to tech support but she didn't seem to think that was a problem.

Do I need to call in and tell them the info you told me?

If that was actually the case you wouldn't have any Internet service at all so I would say that's a cosmetic bug at most.
