I have been reading many comments from people who are co thmplaining about unwanted calls and how to stop them. Many people are registered with the DNS (myself included) and this is not working for anyone.
There is a really easy solution which I am surprised nobody has even mentioned.
My phone announces whomever is calling by voice, caller ID, etc. If it is someone I know I can answer it. If it is someone that I do not recognize but when they start to leave a message and I do want to talk to this person then again I answer it. In this way I am not talking to sales persons or scammers. END OF THE PROBLEM. A very easy solution to a never ending problem. I always have said that if someone wants to talk to me they will leave me a message and if not then just hang up like to many of these callers always do anyway. So it is not taking up my time answering calls that I do not want.

You say it is not taking up your time. But it is. You have to stop what you are doing and listen for the message.
If it is a friend you need to jump up and get it before they give up. Or maybe you get up to look at the caller ID.
In any case it raises your blood pressure and shortens your life. We get about a dozen robo calls a day, and the time adds up.

Your simple solution is screening calls?
You spend time screening calls...you spend time answering unwanted calls...you spend time reviewing who has called...you spend time deleting messages...and you spend time deleting caller ID entries. Wow, it's so simple!

Frankly I simply turn my ringer off. Until there's a viable solution that among other things, affords the option of rejecting spoofed calls as well as robocalls, I do not care to deal with the interruptions. Legitimate callers will leave a message on my machine and all others will disconnect when they get the greeting.
DNC is a joke and the FCC refuses to help in this... they didn't even pursue a complaint I filed about a robocall telling me I was being sued by the IRS so they're clearly not interested in solving a problem that service providers can use to upsell services that will at best not work perfectly.
So... my "simple solution" is to silence my phone.

I silence my phone when I don't want to be disturbed, but at other times I leave it on. I have told my friends, family, and co-workers to leave a message on my answering machine, and if I am home, I will call them right back. I have my answering machine set up to pick up my calls at 4 rings, so it never goes to voicemail. I prefer using my answering machine to using voicemail.
If it is really urgent, I have told my friends, family, co-workers to call my cell phone (which I always answer and no telemarketers or scammers have ever found it yet), or to call my landline phone and use the "code" which is call the landline phone, let it ring once, hang up, wait a few seconds, call it again, let it ring once, hang up, and then call back and let it ring all the way through. When I hear that, I run to get to the phone and answer it. I recognize the code.
Also, the new phone I have bought seems to have a way to program in a different ring for different callers based on caller i.d. I'm still fiddling with this feature, and if it works, then great. I'll be able to know who is calling by their different rings.
I also have the option of hearing the phone say who the caller i.d. says they are, but I find the phone's voice to be very annoying, so I don't use it. But a lot of people could just use that feature on their phones.
