Unreliable internet service - frequent loss of signal

I have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem and brand-new LInksys router.  Router settings are correct according to Linksys customer service.  Each time I'm using Netflix of Amazon Prime the internet service will drop out and I have to reset the network connection to my TV and then restart.  Very troublesome and unreliable.
