I have ultimate internet and recently installed an Arris SB6190. I was hoping to get a little better results than 178/23. My market is "up to 200 down and 20 up" This is my status page, is there anything I can do?

Your levels look great, but I'd call Cox and ask them to open up the rest of your channels. You should have 32 down, and 8 up with the Arris 6190 cable modem. Did you already have the modem registered? Also, wireless connectivity may cause the speeds to drop depending on your range to the router. Keep that mind, but I suspect the issue is with your channels being limited to 12 down, and 4 up. Give that a shot.

It sounds like you're getting the correct speeds for your level of service. If you bypass the router and test hardwired to the modem, what results do you get?
Thanks,

That is the modems MAX capable, it's not what Cox actually provisions. Cox only currently provisions up to 24x4, some markets are locked to as low as 16 or 12 channels however.

Based on his previous interest on the SEC, I think OP is from LA, one of those markets you mentioned with only 12 downstreams. They need to cap that area at 200Mbps until they open more channels IMO

I just finished connecting directly to my cable modem. I get the same exact results. 179/22.
One of the main reasons I am trying to post my question here is because a similar problem was posted and solved very recently on this forum. Here is the link to that thread.

This customer is also in south louisiana, so I assumed a similar result could be reached.

Is ChrisL available? He is the Cox Support Forum Moderator that helped on this question. I am also prepared to try a different modem, such as the SB6183 if necessary.

Send us an email with either your home address or modem MAC address to Cox.Help@Cox.com, we may need to check to see if your modem is provisioned for the proper speeds. Link this thread for reference, thanks.

Bill, Did your problem get fixed? I am in Duson,LA and sadly whoever provisions modems for the techs here are horrible and never get it right. I have had success on 2 separate occasions now on this forum and both time ChrisL fixed the issue.

The provisioning system is automated, based on what put into their customer database. The problem is the system is designed to limit the provisioning of the config file based on your modem. D2 vs D3 and 8- tuner D3 modems Vs 8+ tuner D3 modems. Basically, they can't pick the config file to go on your modem, they can only adjust their systems in different ways to match certain prerequisites that changes what file the system sends to the modem. Provisioning also takes place over different databases, and many times information can get stuck between the different databases.
It's a pain and takes someone with detailed knowledge of Cox's database to find the hiccups. I think Chris is a Engineer that also works over on DSLReports, try sending him a PM? It's possible multiple people use that username though. Worth a try.

Hi Shane, I am still waiting for a "ticket" to be completed. My account needs to be updated with the proper "ultimate code" for speeds higher than 150 Mbps (in a 200 Mbps market). There was actually an outage in my area last night from midnight to around 3:30 am, so that could have affected the provisioning or whatever they might have tried to do.
I don't think this forum allows me to "PM" anyone, so unless someone at Cox Support Forums can contact ChrisL directly, there's not much I can do to get a hold of him.
If they can't provision my SB6190 correctly, then I'm thinking about buying an SB6183 as a backup. I've read more positive things about the SB6183. What do you guys think? Is anyone out there getting maximum (ultimate) speeds with an SB6190 ?

It doesn't. That's why I gave the link to his DSLReports.com profile where you can PM him.

It looks like there is something wrong with your account that won't allow us to make the change as usual. We're still waiting on our help desk ticket to complete for this issue.

It's been about 8 days since I sent the email to cox.help@cox.com. How long do help desk tickets take to complete usually? I just need to know how long they might take to get to my issue so I don't have to keep checking this thread over and over for updates.
Thanks
