Slow Upload With Disconnects

Hi,

I live just outside D.C. in Northern VA. My upload speed hits 20+ Mbps when things are working well, but plummets to 1 Mbps and below very often. While this slowness is going on, there are spikes of slowness so low as to disconnect entirely from whatever I'm uploading.

My modem is a brand new Arris SB6183. It is connected directly to my computer via new ethernet. The modem is connected to my wall by a brand new cable. Inside my maintenance closet is a 1:3 splitter with caps on 2 of the outputs. The 3rd output says 5.5 db and connects to my apartment wall.

Technicians have noted T3 errors and bad MER/BER ratings in past visits.

Here's a snapshot of my modem event log and stream status for debugging purposes. Please let me know what you think!

The first error happens very frequently.

This is probably the section I care about most, since upload shows the most symptoms:

Looking from this end I don't see anything that would explain the problems you're experiencing.  Is there another computer you can try connecting to the modem to see if you still have the same problem?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, every computer I've used has the problem. Is there any kind of throttling of upload speeds? It seems very 'bursty' with sustained speeds being much slower. Does general traffic in the local area become overwhelming for the network? I am seeing a high number of Cox problems reported on internet forums nationwide this week and am wondering if the network is experiencing some kind of general problem I should be aware of.

Right now I'm clocking 1.8 Mbps on speedtest.net which is 10% what it normally is. Almost every time I test it it is a radically different speed ranging from 1-35 Mbps at the highest. See how this download chart peaks and valleys all over the place?

Will post another snapshot of bonded channels in case something changed:

The funny thing is I actually rescheduled a technician visit that would have happened today because in the hour before he came uploads speeds were good for the first time in weeks. It had appeared the problem was finally fixed in the morning but it returned full force almost immediately after my tech visit was rescheduled.

Thanks,

Mike

@Kanis999

We advertise the speeds as being up to speeds due to demand variables not entirely under our control however we're happy to see how we can help still.  If you're experiencing problems with multiple devices connected directly to the modem having a tech come out and investigate is a good next step.

The upload connectivity was solid today for about 8 hours (first time in weeks), but it has returned to garbage performance. If that gives any clues.
