Slow upload speeds

I recently signed up for Ultimate Internet and should be receiving 150/20, but my upload speeds never pass 14 mbps. It is usually anywhere between 5-14, sometime's as slow as 2 mbps. Any idea what could be causing this? I have plugged in directly into the Cisco 3010 modem that was sold to me by cox and still have the same results. Any chance a firmware upgrade is required for the modem?

Can you post your signal levels? Should find them via 192.168.100.1 webpage

Kaveman42,

When you plugged directly to the modem was your wifi turned off? Also, does your modem's coaxial cable connect directly to the cable outlet or does it run through a splitter?

Hi Coleen, Yes, the WiFi was off (router was unplugged) and the modem goes directly into the coaxial cable. We don't have cable tv, so there is no need to split the cable. Here are the signal levels:

The technician just came by an hour ago and changed the line out from the telephone pole to the house. So now we have new cable running from the pole to the modem. The latency looks like it improved, however the upload speeds still wont pass 15 mbps.

Hi, is that speed test taken while you are wired directly to the modem or wireless?

I noticed you are only locked on 3 of the 4 upstream channels.  Channel 4 is 0 dBmv on both screenshots.  Maybe a mod can comment if this is an issue.

@Kaveman42

I'm seeing upstream noise problems and packet loss when I look from this end.  I think it's time a technician came out and did further troubleshooting.

Should I email the support line to schedule a visit?

You can email us at cox.help@cox.com if you prefer or speak with our local technical support by phone.

Last week, the technician came out to the house again. Since the line was already new from the pole to the modem, they changed the modem out for a new one since it was purchased from COX. Now when I run the speed test, it will jump slightly over 20mbps but then crawl down to around 16-17mbps and end there. Not sure if that's expected or not. I've included my current channel readings. I also noticed that the firmware dates back to 2009, is there a newer version firmware Cox can use to update my modem?

It sounds like the modem made a difference in your case.  Based on the numbers you're seeing I'd say they are well within normal values.  You could try uploading to different destinations to see if there is any change.  I went ahead and sent a firmware update to the modem as well, let me know if you see any issues from that.
