Setting up IMAP account

Following COX directions and trying to set up IMAP email account. Using correct settings, but always fails to connect to IMAP server with NO USABLE EXPLANATION. Wondering if anyone can give me some advice.

Hi, can you please tell me what mail program you are trying to set up your mail in? Your operating system info would be helpful too.  Are you able to log into the Cox website? Can you tell me if you're selecting SSL and which port number are you using?  Thanks!  -Steff

Cox has been having connection issues with IMAP since last year.  The problem is that Cox doesn't appear willing to address them or even admit there is a problem.  You will see a number of postings on this subject.  I and others have reported this issues to Cox and been given trouble tickets many times, with unsatisfactory responses, such as there is no problem with IMAP, there is no problem with Cox email servers, Cox only supports webmail, what's your OS/browser, reconfirm your setup, no response, etc.  So I've given up depending on using a Cox email account on any IMAP email client.  Sorry can't give you better news, but maybe you should look at another email provider that's more responsive, like I have already.  The response below is typical of the kinds of support I have been receiving on this problem.
