Gateway shows good cable connection. No internet on wired or WiFi. Rebooted gateway and still no internet connection via wired or WiFi. Called main Cox line at 6235941000 from my Cox landline. 3 times it won't connect saying its a cell phone. Then I get a recording that their too busy to answer and to call back. No option to ask for support, receive a call back etc
If there is a technical outage, does Cox need to also remove customer support? Any mods able to confirm an outage in the PHX/85296 area? Care to comment why no customer service or support?

Its 8pm on Tuesday, and internet is out here in Tucson as well. Can only log onto Google homepage cause its just a blank page with a box and couple words. Our limited connection speed seems slower than old dial-up. And when I tired calling Cox technical support I got the same stupid message "Due to high call volumes, they are unable to answer my call at this time".
For what we pay for internet now, there should be some official site or location to go to for current information when they're having problems.

I was able to get my connection back up by changing the DNS servers on my router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Seems like the Cox DNS servers are down right now.

I totally agree. I do understand that stuff breaks, heck might even be out of their control. I would of thought they would want to have high customer service and offer support when these situations arise. But to have a recording that says Cox is too busy to answer your call so you might want to call back later is completely wrong. Step up Cox and at a minimum provide some customer service and support.

Interesting. How would you suggest that this multi-million dollar business operate on a higher-functioning level? I'm sure that their short-staffed night shift is getting plenty of calls to keep everyone busy, so yes, call queues may be high. It's not likely that they are going to call in extra staff, who probably make a bit more than $10, to just come in and tell callers that, yes, the IVR was correct and they are in an outage.

From what I've read, it looks like there's a problem with the DNS server. I changed my DNS settings for my adapter to 8.8.8.8 (Google's DNS), and Internet is back up.
